Abstract:
Composting is a cost effective and environmentally sound alternative for stabilization of a domestic waste water sludge. By possible utilization of those product in agriculture a sludge organic matter and nutrients could be recycled. A typical composting components are dewatered sludge mixed to a bulking agents consist of wood chips, straw, paper or materials with high content of cellulose and lignin. An application of sludge as a compost is limited by its potentially toxic elements, mainly heavy metals. Accumulated pollution of sewage sludge can be substantially reduced during composting process using proper bulk agents which can absorb or fix those toxic substances. The possible removal technology can be based on mobile wood-lignin pressed mixture. In those article are discussed problems of finding out a solution by creating a right components and w«x>d processing technology which will be able to ensure pressed product with good enough mechanical and removal properties.
