Abstract:
The following article discusses some examples of academic misconduct observed in a specific online learning environment. The accumulated data contains instances of ethical breach carried out by first and second year university students and tenure-track faculty members. The period of participant observation spans from February 2020 to December 2021. Online tools as well as direct face-to-face conversations were used to detect negligence, improper dependencies and various types of academic dishonesty. Findings are analysed in view of pre-established social circumstances. Conclusions are to be regarded as highly case-specific, while recommendations might be used for improvement of academic behaviour anywhere.
