Abstract:
This report analyses the agricultural sector at the national and regional level. Bulgaria is a
country with a developed agricultural sector, and this implies the intervention of state institutions in the precise monitoring of agricultural production. Producers are subsidized according to specialized regulatory documents. Controlling and analysing the results is imperative for implementing and changing the current national and regional strategies. The period of the study is a time span of 20 years in order to be able to make a comparison for national and regional policies. Data on the arable area by types of agricultural crops and by regions from Agro statistics from the Ministry of Agriculture
and Food and data on Gross Added Value of the Agricultural sector from the National Statistical Institute have been compared. The main methodology of the analysis is a structural and variation analysis prepared for a certain time interval in order to draw relevant conclusions and recommendations for the period before Bulgaria's admission to the European Union and the period after that.
