Abstract:
The Townsend quasi-homogeneous breakdown mechanism can be applied not only for low pressure but as well for relatively short air daps (5,26 cm) atatmospheric pressure. The real power surface density characteristic of atmospheric pressure dielectric barrier discharge reveals the existence of avalanche (quasihomogeneous) steady-state mode of atmospheric dielectric barrier discharge at short gaps (0,15 0,30 cm) at atmospheric pressure and industrial frequency (50 Hz). Two non-homogeneous or filamentary modes of dielectric barrier discharge - cathode directed (0,60 cm) and anode directed streamer (1,20 cm) mode of burning were detached too.
