Description:
A short documentary film about Dima who works as a hairdresser in a small Bulgarian town of Blagoevgrad. The central message my film will communicate is that the job of a hairdresser is not as easy as it might seem at the first sight. Dima reveals the struggle she had to go through in the beginning to be as successful as she is now. The heart of my story is Dima who is a hairdresser in the small town of Blagoevgrad. The film follows her everyday life at work. Throughout the day she takes care of many different customers and approaches individually each of them. But she is not alone at the workplace. In her beauty salon, she has a colleague and a friend Kristina Popova, who has been working with Dima for two years. She tells the audience some information about what is it like to work together with Dima. My creative vision is to create a documentary that reminds people about the significance of ordinary people in the service industry. The story is going to follow a narrative arc structure involving three acts: beginning, middle, and end. In the beginning, the film introduces Dima and tells us what she usually does at work: her duties, methods, and working routine. In the middle act she will share the obstacles she encountered when she was just beginning her career: the learning process, the struggles she went through when starting the business, like lack of funds and mistrust of clients. In the ending act: Dima will talk about her going through all of the obstacles, developing regular customers who trust her, and successfully running the salon. The target audience for this project is people interested in documentaries, local people of Blagoevgrad, and also those who like stories about ordinary people. [abstract] This project is copyrighted.
