Abstract:
The topic of the article was brought about by the place of technical devices and Internet in contemporary foreign language teaching, going back and observing predictions from the past about the place of the computer in the learning process, within the texts of methodologists and linguists of 20 years ago. Noteable are the initial attempts to implement some potentialities provided by softwares, such as the computer editor and translator. The first forecasts about forthcoming changes in communications through the mass use of the Internet are also quoted. Some conclusions have been drawn on the strengths and weaknesses that are pending in an e-learning environment.
