Abstract:
The state variable method is a modern method for investigation of transient processes in complicated electrical circuits. The main feature of the method is the possibility of mathematical formalisation of the calculations. This is why the method has been aplied for investigation of the excess voltage connected with the failures in the two important power-stations of Bulgaria. These are the failure of the autotransformer 400 kV at the hydroelectric plant "Chaim" on the 06.09.1993 and the failure of the circuit breaker 220 kV of the generator terminal of BGT-1, at the Nuclear power-station "Kozloduj" on the 24.11.1994.
