The aim of this study is to examine the apprehension of pupils and students having attended the established virtual biology laboratories, already used for biology introductory courses. Having participated in both formats, the participants filled out a questionnaire which contained questions about their apprehension during virtual biology laboratory tuitorials and during standard activities, the so-called face-to-face laboratory tuitorials. The results indicated that most students (86.9%) perceive attending laboratory tutorials as more satisfactory than virtual tutorials. The reason is due to problems arising from the lack of experience so far in biology laboratories, ie. in an experimental setting. However, not an insignificant part of students (61%) admit digitalization of practical biology tutorials in the future as more useful in the long run. Summing-up, online learning, especially in the field of biology, is still a new methodology and more research is needed.
